Not that it was out of style (it was actually just coming into it's own) The point of the funeral is that "alternative" music had now gone mainstream so it needed a new name. Maybe we should have a funeral for new media. It's certainly not new anymore so why isn't it just called media? We should also have a funeral for "web 2.0" but that is just because I am sick of hearing about it. web 2.0 = websites that actually have the potential to make money new media = media anarchy, old men in suits have lost control of the empire and they are scared.
